Aspen Fun
« on: October 12, 2017, 02:27:59 PM »
We have been having a very fun time here in Aspen.
Lots of tribute shows with singers from all over the world.
Some of the people that are having shows are
Aspen Meadow Band.
Mark Cormican
Christopher Westfall
Steve Rodman
Roy Rivers
Chris Banister
Ron Mathews
Jimmy Fong
Mack Bailey
John Denver Project Band

You can see most of them on Youtube.
I like the way that these people sing John's songs.
They don't try to impersonate him. They sing his songs in their own way.

We are only going to see about half of these shows due to time restraints.

I won't be making the hike to the Maroon Bells this year.
My back would not allow it.
We have great memories and a lot of pictures from other years in Aspen.
This trip is more relaxed and laid back.
Spending more time making new friends and sharing stories with old friends.

I have been placing fliers in the lobby of the Chalet that tells about our forum
in hopes of getting some new members here.

Tonight we will be going to a show that will include several of John's old band members.
They will be telling us stories about their time with John and also sing some of his songs.

After the show, it's dinner and back to the Chalet for another sing-a-long.
Aspen has no shortage of nice restaurants to choose from.
Some are a bit pricey though.
Here is a link to some pictures from past trips to Aspen.
The site that hosts these pictures doesn't allow me to add new pictures now.
Most of you have already probably seen these pictures but others may not.

Wish you were all here,
Dale.

This is a video from a concert that we just saw.
Aspen Meadows Band from Oregon.
The lead singer is Jake Love.
Jake came to the AIO in 2006 with his Uncle.

Jake was a troubled kid with some bad habits that he was wanting to put behind himself.
He discovered strength and appreciation for life through the music of John Denver.
Jake joined a religious group that soon adopted him and helped him with his life's problems.
The members of this band are also members of this church.

I hope you enjoy the show as much as I did,
Dale.

Dale, I really like this group too, and Jake's voice is very nice.  Just curious, what was the fee for these concerts by AMB?

Aspen Meadows does three shows while we are here.
Not only are their shows free, they give out free CD's of their music to everyone that wants one.
They are AWESOME!

Oh my goodness!!!  That's wonderful, but somebody is bearing a big expense there.  Are they a non-profit that one can donate to, I wonder?

I watched yesterday's concert in full, and was just really taken with it.  Very well done.00

I will try to get more info about the band tomorrow when we go to their next show.
This show will be asking for donations but all of the proceeds will go to an Aspen charity.

Yes, there people are awesome!

Sounds like fun for you. Too bad I am an introvert and poor.
